# Vanta

> Give the Sazabi agent read-only tools to look up Vanta compliance tests, controls, frameworks, vendors, risks, vulnerabilities, and documents as evidence.

[All Vanta integration capabilities](https://docs.sazabi.com/catalogs/integrations/vanta)

## About

This is an MCP connector that gives the Sazabi agent tools from Vanta's hosted MCP server. Vanta authenticates via OAuth with dynamic client registration, with separate hosts for the United States, Europe, and Australia. The connector acts as the Vanta user who signs in, with that user's Vanta role. Sazabi connects it read-only: tools that change Vanta data stay blocked.

**What the agent can do:**

* Find failing compliance tests and the entities out of scope for them
* Browse controls, framework requirements, and the tests and documents linked to them
* Review vendors, risks, vulnerabilities, and vulnerable assets
* List policies and evidence documents when an investigation or audit question needs them

## Prerequisites

* A Vanta account with access to the data you want the agent to read
* Your Vanta region — United States (US), Europe (EU), or Australia (AUS); you select it when connecting

## Set up in the dashboard

Configure connectors in the dashboard under [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors).

**Step 1**

### Open the connector

Find Vanta in [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors).

**Step 2**

### Choose your region

Select the region your Vanta account runs in: United States, Europe, or Australia.

**Step 3**

### Authorize

Start the connection. Sazabi redirects you to Vanta to sign in and approve access, then back.

## Set up with the CLI

You can also connect Vanta with the [Sazabi CLI](https://docs.sazabi.com/reference/cli.md) (installed and authenticated — see [`sazabi mcp-connectors` reference](https://docs.sazabi.com/reference/cli/mcp-connectors)).

Vanta authenticates over OAuth, so the CLI opens a browser to complete authorization:

```bash theme={"system"}
sazabi mcp-connectors connect vanta
```

For Europe or Australia, pass the region's server URL, for example `--server-url https://mcp.eu.vanta.com/mcp` or `--server-url https://mcp.aus.vanta.com/mcp`. Sazabi uses this connector read-only, so write tools stay blocked even without `--read-only`; pass `--project-id <project>` to target a specific project. In `--json` mode the command prints an authorization URL to open, then polls until the connection completes. Confirm the result with `sazabi mcp-connectors list`.

## Verify

Open the connector's connection page under [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors) and confirm Sazabi lists the tools it discovered. Then, in a thread, ask the agent to use one of those tools and confirm it runs. If no tools appear, confirm the connection is authorized and you selected the region your Vanta account runs in.

## Troubleshooting

**No tools discovered** — Disconnect and reconnect from [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors), choosing the region your Vanta account runs in.

**Connection shows needs attention** — The authorization may have expired or been revoked; reconnect from [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors).

**A tool returns a permission error** — The Vanta user who connected cannot see that data. Reconnect as a user whose Vanta role can.
