# Honeycomb

> Give the Sazabi agent tools to query Honeycomb environments, datasets, columns, boards, triggers, and SLOs, and create or update boards and triggers.

[All Honeycomb integration capabilities](https://docs.sazabi.com/catalogs/integrations/honeycomb)

## About

Honeycomb is an MCP connector that gives the Sazabi agent tools from Honeycomb's MCP server. Honeycomb's server authenticates via OAuth with dynamic client registration, with separate regional endpoints for the US and EU. Once connected, agents can list environments and datasets, inspect columns, run queries, browse boards and triggers, and create or update boards and triggers.

**What the agent can do:**

* Browse Honeycomb environments, datasets, and columns
* Run queries and inspect query results
* View boards, triggers, and SLOs
* Create and update boards and triggers
* Surface trace and event context for debugging

## Prerequisites

* An active Honeycomb account
* A user with Read access under Model Context Protocol; the `mcp:write` scope is required for write tools
* EU teams select the **Europe (EU)** region when connecting

## Set up in the dashboard

Configure connectors in the dashboard under [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors).

**Step 1**

### Open the connector

Find Honeycomb in [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors).

**Step 2**

### Authorize

Start the connection. If your Honeycomb account is in the EU region, select **Europe (EU)** from the region dropdown before authorizing. Sazabi redirects you to Honeycomb to authorize, then back.

## Set up with the CLI

You can also connect Honeycomb with the [Sazabi CLI](https://docs.sazabi.com/reference/cli.md) (installed and authenticated — see [`sazabi mcp-connectors` reference](https://docs.sazabi.com/reference/cli/mcp-connectors)).

Honeycomb authenticates over OAuth, so the CLI opens a browser to complete authorization:

```bash theme={"system"}
sazabi mcp-connectors connect honeycomb
```

Add `--read-only` to restrict the connector to read-only tools, or `--project-id <project>` to target a specific project. In `--json` mode the command prints an authorization URL to open, then polls until the connection completes. Confirm the result with `sazabi mcp-connectors list`.

## Verify

Open the connector's connection page under [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors) and confirm Sazabi lists the tools it discovered. Then, in a thread, ask the agent to list your Honeycomb environments and confirm it returns results. If no tools appear, confirm your account has Read access under Model Context Protocol.

## Troubleshooting

**No tools discovered** — Confirm your account has Read access under Model Context Protocol in Honeycomb. Disconnect and re-authorize, selecting the correct region (US or EU).

**Connection shows needs attention** — The authorization may have expired or been revoked; reconnect from [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors).
