# Grafana Cloud

> Give the Sazabi agent tools to browse dashboards, query metrics, logs, and traces, and review alerts and incidents across your Grafana Cloud stack.

[All Grafana integration capabilities](https://docs.sazabi.com/catalogs/integrations/grafana)

## About

This is an MCP connector that gives the Sazabi agent tools from Grafana's Cloud MCP server (`mcp.grafana.com/mcp`). The server authenticates via OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration — no API tokens to copy. Once connected, the Sazabi agent can read dashboards, run Prometheus and Loki queries, inspect Tempo traces, and review alert rules across your Grafana Cloud stack.

**What the agent can do:**

* Browse dashboards and panels and read their underlying queries
* Query metrics, logs, and traces across connected data sources
* Review alert rules, firing alerts, and on-call schedules
* Surface incident and Sift investigation context during debugging

## Prerequisites

* An active Grafana Cloud stack
* Permission to authorize third-party OAuth applications in Grafana Cloud
* A role granting the `grafana-assistant-app.cloud-mcp:access` action

## Set up in the dashboard

Configure connectors in the dashboard under [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors).

**Step 1**

### Open the connector

Find Grafana Cloud in [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors).

**Step 2**

### Authorize

Start the connection; Sazabi redirects you to Grafana Cloud to authorize, then back. Confirm the Grafana Cloud account you sign in with has the `grafana-assistant-app.cloud-mcp:access` action granted.

## Set up with the CLI

You can also connect Grafana Cloud with the [Sazabi CLI](https://docs.sazabi.com/reference/cli.md) (installed and authenticated — see [`sazabi mcp-connectors` reference](https://docs.sazabi.com/reference/cli/mcp-connectors)).

Grafana Cloud authenticates over OAuth, so the CLI opens a browser to complete authorization:

```bash theme={"system"}
sazabi mcp-connectors connect grafana
```

Add `--read-only` to restrict the connector to read-only tools, or `--project-id <project>` to target a specific project. In `--json` mode the command prints an authorization URL to open, then polls until the connection completes. Confirm the result with `sazabi mcp-connectors list`.

## Verify

Open the connector's connection page under [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors) and confirm Sazabi lists the tools it discovered. Then, in a thread, ask the agent to query metrics or browse dashboards and confirm it returns results. If no tools appear, confirm your Grafana Cloud account has the required role.

## Troubleshooting

**No tools discovered** — Confirm your account has the `grafana-assistant-app.cloud-mcp:access` action. Disconnect and re-authorize if needed.

**Connection shows needs attention** — The authorization may have expired or been revoked; reconnect from [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors).
