# Datadog

> Give the Sazabi agent tools to query Datadog metrics, logs, traces, monitors, dashboards, and incidents using your Datadog site URL, API key, and Application Key.

[All Datadog integration capabilities](https://docs.sazabi.com/catalogs/integrations/datadog)

## About

This is an MCP connector that gives the Sazabi agent tools from Datadog's hosted MCP server. Datadog's hosted MCP server accepts two HTTP header credentials: an API key and an Application Key. Sazabi stores both keys securely and sends them as `DD_API_KEY` and `DD_APPLICATION_KEY` headers to Datadog's MCP endpoint. The server URL is built from the Datadog site URL you provide, so Sazabi connects to the correct regional endpoint for your account.

**What the agent can do:**

* Query metrics, logs, and distributed traces
* Browse monitors, dashboards, and alert policies
* Search and manage incidents
* Access APM service maps and performance data

## Prerequisites

* A Datadog account with access to the desired data
* Your Datadog site URL from the top of your browser, such as `https://app.datadoghq.com` or `https://us3.datadoghq.com`
* A Datadog API key created in **Organization Settings > Access > API Keys**
* A Datadog Application Key created in **Organization Settings > Access > Application Keys**, either unscoped (it then inherits the owner's permissions) or with full scopes

## Set up in the dashboard

Configure connectors in the dashboard under [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors).

**Step 1**

### Open the connector

Find Datadog in [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors).

**Step 2**

### Add your keys

Sazabi needs three values:

1. **Datadog site URL** — Copy the URL from the top of your browser when logged into Datadog, such as `https://app.datadoghq.com` or `https://us3.datadoghq.com`. Sazabi uses this to build the matching hosted MCP endpoint URL for your region.

2. **API key** — In Datadog, go to **Organization Settings > Access > API Keys** to create or copy your API key. Sazabi sends this as the `DD_API_KEY` header.

3. **Application Key** — In Datadog, go to **Organization Settings > Access > Application Keys** to create or copy your Application Key. An Application Key inherits the permissions of the user who creates it. Sazabi sends this as the `DD_APPLICATION_KEY` header.

## Set up with the CLI

Datadog authenticates with a Datadog API key and Application Key. With the [Sazabi CLI](https://docs.sazabi.com/reference/cli.md) installed and authenticated (see [`sazabi mcp-connectors` reference](https://docs.sazabi.com/reference/cli/mcp-connectors)), connect it in one command, passing each credential as a header:

```bash theme={"system"}
sazabi mcp-connectors connect datadog --header DD_API_KEY=<api-key> --header DD_APPLICATION_KEY=<application-key>
```

The CLI connects to the MCP server at once and prints the connection with the tools it discovered; a credential the server rejects is reported, and the connection is left needing attention. Use `NAME=@<file>` to read a value from a file, or `--header-file <file.json>` for a JSON object of header names and values. To rotate the stored credentials later, use `sazabi mcp-connectors update-credentials <connection-id>`; find the connection ID with `sazabi mcp-connectors list`.

## Verify

Open the connector's connection page under [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors) and confirm Sazabi lists the tools it discovered. Then, in a thread, ask the agent to use one of those tools and confirm it runs. If no tools appear, confirm the site URL is correct and both keys are valid.

## Troubleshooting

**No tools discovered** — Confirm the Datadog site URL matches the region where your account lives and that both keys are correct. The site URL should be the exact origin, such as `https://app.datadoghq.com`.

**Connection shows needs attention** — One or both keys may have been revoked; recreate them and reconnect from [**Settings > MCP connectors**](https://app.sazabi.com/settings/mcp-connectors).
