# OpenRouter

> Enable Broadcast in the OpenRouter dashboard and set your Sazabi intake URL as the OpenTelemetry Collector destination to receive an LLM trace span per generation.

[All OpenRouter integration capabilities](https://docs.sazabi.com/catalogs/integrations/openrouter)

## About

Forward LLM trace spans from OpenRouter into Sazabi. OpenRouter has a built-in OpenTelemetry destination — point it at a Sazabi endpoint and OpenRouter pushes a trace span for each generation request. No SDK or code changes are needed.

Each span names the model and upstream provider and carries token counts, cost per request, and prompt and completion content (unless you have OpenRouter's **Privacy Mode** enabled).

## Prerequisites

* An OpenRouter account with Broadcast access enabled.
* Your Sazabi intake URL (shown above).

## Set up in the dashboard

**Step 1**

### Open observability settings

In the OpenRouter dashboard, go to [Settings > Observability](https://openrouter.ai/settings/observability), toggle **Enable Broadcast** on, then click the edit icon next to **OpenTelemetry Collector**.

**Step 2**

### Set the destination URL

Paste your Sazabi intake URL (shown above) into the **Endpoint** field of the OpenTelemetry Collector destination form.

**Step 3**

### Test and save

Click **Test Connection** to verify Sazabi accepts the trace. OpenRouter saves the destination only after a connection test passes. A green check confirms forwarding is active.

## Set up with the CLI

You can also register the OpenRouter log source with the [Sazabi CLI](https://docs.sazabi.com/reference/cli.md) (installed and authenticated — see [CLI reference](https://docs.sazabi.com/reference/cli/log-sources.md)).

Registering the source mints the same intake URL the dashboard shows above (the public key is embedded in its hostname):

```bash theme={"system"}
sazabi log-sources create openrouter --mode manual
```

The command prints the intake URL for the new source — copy the whole URL and point your sender at it using the configuration shown above. Run `sazabi log-sources get <log-source-id>` at any time to reprint the endpoint, or `sazabi log-sources list` to see every log source in the project.

## Verify

Make a generation request through OpenRouter. Open the [Intake page](https://docs.sazabi.com/guides/instrument/intake.md) in the Sazabi dashboard and confirm trace spans from the **OpenRouter** source appear. Records typically arrive within a minute or two of the request.

## Troubleshooting

**Test Connection fails** — Confirm you pasted the full intake URL including the `https://` scheme. The URL is shown above in the log stream setup panel.

**Spans appear but have no prompt or completion content** — OpenRouter's **Privacy Mode** suppresses prompt and completion data from spans. Disable Privacy Mode in your OpenRouter settings to include that content.
